CRM Implementation
By now most organizations realize the importance of using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool or platform.

Challenge
Even if you have a CRM, it’s possibly not being used effectively or to its full potential. This is often identified through low adoption or increased processing costs.
And if you don’t have a CRM, implementing one may seem almost impossible. It can be hard to select a tool, and it can be daunting to customize one. What’s more, migrating your data to a new system can be a challenge.

Implementing a successful CRM system is not primarily a technology problem. It’s easy to install something but it’s hard to install the right something. We start with your organization. We help you understand what you need before implementing anything. This means that our solution has the following benefits:

Approach
We start with your organization and its needs, helping you think through and document the processes you want to support with your CRM tool. In addition, we help you learn which people and which roles will need to use the system. All this information is combined into a comprehensive strategy.
Based on this strategy, we work with you to identify, evaluate, test, and implement a solution. The first step is to create a set of products to evaluate. We then help you narrow this down based on your needs. Finally, we set up a proof of concept for the chosen solution, a step required before we feel comfortable recommending and implementing a technology solution to your CRM needs. While most CRM systems are fully functional out of the box, they usually need some customization to suit your organization.
CRM Customization
Generally, we encourage our clients to adopt the system functionality unless there is a strong reason not to. Customization should be used sparingly and only for situations where the tool is made better, not just different.
Customization generally has three forms: field customization, object customization, and process customization. Field customization adds new or specialized data to existing objects. Object customization adds new types of content to the system. Process customization adds new or specialized functionality.
Training
While most CRM systems are easy to learn, it’s often a good idea to do some type of formal training. At a minimum, all processes and roles should be documented. This usually happens in the strategy phase but it can be useful to rehearse full operations before going live.
Our training is conducted in person with your group. We provide the documentation and agenda, which is customized to your system and to your training needs.
Nonprofits and Academics
There are many CRM products focused on the nonprofit and academic sectors. Some of these are good. We don’t, however, recommend using one just because your organization is a nonprofit or academic organization. The traditionally commercial CRM products can be customized to suit your organization, and we generally recommend this approach.
Pricing
- Strategy pricing varies based on your needs. Costs generally fall between $5,000 and $15,000.
- Implementation pricing varies based on your strategy, the product selected, and the customizations required.
- Training is $3,500 per day.
