Existing Application Documentation
As a prelude to any application changes, or as insurance against application crashes, an organization should document the current configuration of its applications and tools.
Challenge
Many companies have designed and built custom applications to suit their business. Or, they have created custom implementations or configurations of off-the-shelf software. This can include configurations of software as a service (SaaS) tools like Salfecorce.com. Frequently, the documentation of the design, code, and configuration of these tools was never completed or has been lost. This might not be a problem, as such applications are often in daily use without difficulty. However, lack of documentation is never good. Without this documentation, an organization faces the following challenges:
