One-to-One Marketing is Still Mass Marketing

Even if we could achieve one-to-one marketing in practice, and even if anyone wanted it, I maintain that it's still mass marketing. It is not possible to market at this level.

Market Position Archetype?

The position chart is ubiquitous. A set of X and Y axes representing 2 dimensions in the market and dots representing company's positions with respect to those dimensions. There are many versions. Price v. Quality. Capabilities v. Price. Price v. Value. Luxury v. Reliability. Price v. Economy. These are all interesting and useful, but why are there 2 and only 2 axes?

Rethinking the Traditional Linear Revision Process

Every design-oriented work seems to follow the same process: create the work, present, revise. My question today is whether this is the best approach. Using this process, by the time the work is presented, it's usually pretty finished. Thus, the revise step seems difficult and seems to wrench the project off-track. What's more, even if you cycle through this process several times, in the hopes of getting better results, you are just repeating the same problems. Is there a better approach?
